Nanfoulé, comme un chant, comme un hommage que je te rends, ô toi Mahawa Kouyaté. Tu étais la quatrième épouse, une petite et grande sœur aimante pour toutes les autres, par amour pour ton homme, mon père. Par la magie de ton verbe, tu éloignais la haine, dissolvais les malentendus, défaisais les nœuds de la discorde. Tu n’étais que bonté. Ton talent immense n’avait d’égal que ta modestie. Dans la grande famille d’artistes, tu étais une grande cantatrice mais une petite sœur de tous, donnant respect aux anciens, affection à tes pairs. Ton art était au service de ceux que tu aimes, ton mari, sa famille, tes coépouses, toute la communauté. Tu as placé Soundjoulou au cœur de la famille et au cœur de ton cœur. Il te l’a bien rendu, notre père, en t’aimant et de protégeant toute sa vie. Que le Tout Puissant vous garde !

Nanfoulé, like a song, like a tribute I’m paying to you, oh you Mahawa Kouyaté. You were the fourth wife, a little and big loving sister for all the others, because of the love you had for your man, my father. With the magic of your word, you moved hatred away, dissolved the misunderstandings, undid the knots of discord. You were only goodness. You were as talented as humble. In the big family of artists, you were a great singer but also the little sister of everybody, giving respect to the elders, affection to your fellows. Your art was in favor of those you love, your husband, his family, your co-wives, the whole community. You put Soundjoulou at the heart of the family and at the heart of your heart. He gave it back to you well, our father, by loving and protecting you his all lifetime. May the Almighty save you!
